Two men gunned down in Priory, St Ann
ST ANN, Jamaica – Two men were shot and killed in Priory, St Ann on Saturday evening.
The deceased have been identified as 23-year-old Shamrick Edwards, otherwise called ‘Pappy’, a carpenter of Stony Hill, St Andrew and 33-year-old Garfield Thomas, otherwise called ‘Brawlin’, a mason of Seacrest in Discovery Bay, St Ann.
Police reports are that around 6:15 pm, Edwards and Thomas were pounced upon by gunmen who opened fire on them.
When the shooting subsided, Thomas and Edwards were found with gunshot wounds.
The police were summoned and both men were rushed to hospital where they succumbed while undergoing treatment.
Police have not yet ascertained a motive for the killing.
As of July 8, St Ann recorded the highest increase in murders in comparison to the corresponding period last year, with statistics from the police indicating that there have been 42 murders in comparison to 22 in the similar period in 2022.
This accounts for a 61.5 per cent increase in murders in the parish.
