Two Westmoreland men charged following gun seizure
WESTMORELAND, Jamaica – Two men have been charged following the seizure of a handgun and several rounds of ammunition at Goldsmith Lane in the parish on Tuesday, December 27.
Twenty-six-year-old Jovane Warren otherwise called ‘Brogad’, of Morass district in Whithorn, Westmoreland has been charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
While 24-year-old Andrew Thompson has been charged with possession of identity information.
Reports are that about 12:15 pm, the team was on an intelligence-led operation in the community when they accosted two men. The men were searched and the firearm—a Glock 26 pistol fitted with a magazine containing six 9-millimetre rounds of ammunition—was taken from Warren.
A cellular phone that was in the possession of Thompson contained contact information of persons residing abroad.
They were both consequently charged.
Their court dates are being finalised.
