U-17 Boyz eliminated by Guatemala in round of 16
Jamaica were knocked out in the round of 16 of the Concacaf Under-17 Championship on Saturday evening, losing to host Guatemala 2-1 at the Estadio Mateo Flores in the Central American country.
The junior Reggae Boyz trailed 1-0 at half time, after Salvin Sagastume scored for Guatemala in the 32nd minute.
The Merron Gordon-coached team leveled through a beautiful free-kick from Ronaldo Barrett in the 55th minute.
However, the Guatemalans netted the winning goal in the 77th minute through captain Ahir Dixon.
Guatemala will now face the United States in the quarterfinals with the winner becoming one of the four semi-finalists to earn an Under-17 World Cup berth.
