WATCH: Aidonia, Kimberly Megan’s heartwarming first public appearance since losing son
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Dancehall artiste Aidonia and wife, Kimberly Megan, made their first public appearance since the loss of their nine-year-old son, Khalif Lawrence.
The couple attended Sandz Caribbean Music Festival held at Stadium East in Kingston on New Year’s Day.
The artiste, given name Sheldon Lawrence, performed at the event. During his set, he invited Kimberly Megan to the stage to express appreciation for her support over the years, especially during the period of their son’s fight with cancer.
“Me haffi mek you smile because you nah smile from wah day enuh, so me haffi put a smile on your face enuh,” the ‘Nuh Boring Gyal’ singer said.
“Because you a warrior enuh. From 2019 until now, nuff people don’t even know what we a go through and a you a hold down the fort. Nuff time me can’t even deh deh. Year-and-odd me nuh see me son and a you a hold it down,” the artiste continued.
He went on to speak directly to his wife, telling her that they will overcome their current ordeal.
“We lose we son and everything but we ago overcome enuh. Jamaica love we, the people love we, God love we, friend dem love we, we family love we,” Aidonia added.
The couple shared a sweet moment together on stage when Aidonia asked for “one a dem chups like weh you give me a yard”.
The interaction was met with much encouragement from the crowd, which spilt over to social media as people sent good wishes to the couple in the comment section of videos shared on the platforms.
