WATCH: Fire destroys shop, building in St Mary
ST MARY, Jamaica- A fire which broke out at a shop in Richmond, St Mary late Sunday afternoon took sometime before it was eventually brought under control.
An officer from the Port Maria Fire Department told Observer Online that the time the fire started is not known, but the brigade was called about 5:26 pm.
He said the fire, which occurred in the town centre, consumed a shop and an adjoining old building before it was brought under control.
Two units, one from Annotto Bay and the other from Port Maria, fought the blaze. Up to press time, there were no reports of injuries.
Firefighters at the scene were still conducting initial investigations and were unable to give a possible cause for the fire. An estimate of the damage has not been ascertained.
