KINGSTON, Jamaica – Financial Investigations Division (FID) and Fraud Squad detectives seized several phones and documents during a search of the upper St Andrew premises of a former employee of Stocks and Securities Limited (SSL) as the investigation into the multi-billion-dollar fraud at the investment company continued on Friday.

Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, head of the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), made the revelation to reporters after the conclusion of the operation which began about 12 noon.

“They have taken some documents that they believe could be of assistance to them. They will be analysing those documentation to see if it provides any support to the ongoing investigation. They have also taken in their custody cellphones which will be analysed,“ Lindsay said.

Earlier this week, the FID and Fraud Squad announced that questionable transactions were being made on some of the affected accounts at SSL for more than a decade.

Usain Bolt is among more than 30 investors whose funds are said to have been stolen by the former SSL employee.

The sprint great is missing US$12.7 million from his account and his lawyers earlier this week gave SSL a 10-day ultimatum to return the funds or face legal action.
