WATCH: STATHS stun KC with rocket free-kick in U-16 title decider
KINGSTON, Jamaica – St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) claimed the ISSA urban area Under-16 schoolboy football title with a shock 2-1 win over Kingston College (KC) in the finals on Thursday at Stadium East.
STATHS were sent on their way in the 25th minute with a powerful Delaney Whyte free-kick that had KC conceding for the first time all season.
The stunning goal sent fans out of their seats and triggered wild celebrations among the STATHS players.
KC equalized early through Dujuan Richards in the second half but later conceded an own goal which doomed them to defeat.
STATHS dedicated the win to slain Manning Cup star Omar Laing, who was shot dead last Friday in downtown Kingston.
His brother, Omari Laing is a member of the victorious under-16 squad.
