WATCH: Sunshine Girl among 30 affected by early morning fire on Rum Lane
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Sunshine Girl Latanya Wilson is one of several victims whose house was destroyed following an early morning blaze on Thursday.
The fire, suspected to be the work of arsonists, destroyed several homes along Rum Lane in Kingston. Reports reaching OBSERVER ONLINE are that residents were awoken by loud explosions and discovered their dwellings on fire.
A total of 7 families, including adults and children, amounting to 30, are now homeless.
Wilson, in an interview with OBSERVER ONLINE, said she’s grateful for life as the fire is testament to how quickly things change.
“I’m feeling several different emotions right now, but I think the key in all of this is just to be grateful for life because one minute you can be on top of everything and you can just lose everything in a quick second. I’m just grateful for life because whatever was lost in the fire is actually replaceable,” she said.
Wilson, who said she was sleeping when the fire started, said she is hoping Jamaicans will rally around the victims to assist them in getting back on their feet.
“We can work and get them back (things lost in the fire) or Jamaica can assist us in getting them back so I’m just grateful for life,” she said.
