Wayne Marshall ‘honoured and humbled’ to receive OD award

KINGSTON, Jamaica — “Honoured and humbled” is how reggae/dancehall artiste Wayne Marshall describes being bestowed the Order of Distinction.

The entertainer-turned-content creator was honoured during the special Heroes Day ceremony at King’s House on Monday.

“Honoured and humbled receiving the National Order of Distinction on this Heroes Day! Grateful for this incredible recognition of my contribution to Dancehall/Reggae and our beloved nation’s music culture,” Marshall wrote in an Instagram post following Monday’s ceremony.

“This award is for my family who have supported me throughout the years, every producer, supporter, and fellow artist who believed in me. I can’t thank you enough.”

His post was met with a flood of congratulatory messages from fellow entertainers and fans alike, including fellow awardees Tarrus Riley and Marcia Griffiths.

“WeeeezRoyal. Love n Respect,” Riley commented on Marshall’s post, tagging Marcia Griffiths in his message. Griffiths also posted a congratulatory message under the entertainer’s post.

“Much love brother, congrats to you,” her comment read.

Griffiths and Riley also received awards for their outstanding contribution to the entertainment industry. Riley also received the Order of Distinction while Griffiths received the Order of Jamaica, the fourth highest honour in the nation.

Grammy-winning artiste Kabaka Pyramid, Voice winner, wife Tami Chin and sister-in-law Tessanne Chin also congratulated Marshall on his award.
