GG mourns tragic death of long-serving King’s House employee
Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and Lady Allen have expressed their profound sorrow at the passing of O’Neil Hamilton, a King’s House employee who died tragically on his way home from work on Friday evening.
A King’s House statement said Hamilton was struck when a truck driver lost control and slammed into pedestrians along the busy Eastwood Park Road in St Andrew.
Hamilton served over 15 years at The Office of The Governor General and was recently recognised at the Jamaica Civil Service Long Service Awards, held November 23, for 25 years of public service.
Sir Patrick who presented the long service award to Hamilton, expressed shock and sadness, saying: “I am absolutely distraught and stunned. He will be greatly missed. The Governor General and staff of King’s House send our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Mr O’Neil Hamilton and wish strength and comfort in this difficult time of grief.”
