PORT MARIA, St Mary — The St Mary police have come up empty-handed in a search for the bodies of two babies who, it is alleged, were disposed of by their mother.

According to the police, 37-year-old Taneisha Richardson of Days Mountain gave birth to twins sometime between November 18 and 20. Cops were called in by members of the mental health unit who were allegedly told, during one of their scheduled visits to Richardson’s home, that she gave birth but had allegedly disposed of the babies.

Richardson was arrested and charged for infanticide.

“We have taken her to the location where she said the bodies are but we came up empty-handed. We have gone as far as to have the Canine Unit do their due diligence in this investigation, but nothing,” superintendent of police in charge of St Mary, Bobette Morgan-Simpson told the Jamaica Observer on Thursday.

“She has said she gave birth to a boy and a girl. The boy wasn’t breathing but the girl was alive,” Morgan-Simpson added.
