Faulkland extend lead in Tier Two football
Faulkland FC increased their lead atop the points table in the Jamaica Football Federation Tier Two competition on Saturday after blanking Albion Mountain FC 3-0 at Westmoreland Oval for their sixth-straight victory.
Obrian Robinson scored his 11th goal of the campaign as Faulkland FC improved to 19 points, two more than Chapleton Maroons, who gave up a lead and had to come from behind to earn a 2-2 draw against Portlanders FC.
Treasure Beach stayed in third place with a 0-0 result against Tru Juice, while a suddenly potent Falmouth United raced up to fourth place, scoring six goals in back-to-back games after beating Downs YC 6-1 at Elleston Wakeland Centre.
Faulkland FC had their first clean sheet of the season as they got the better of Albion Mountain. Tyshan Hill gave the St James-based club the lead in the 29th minute before Robinson scored in time added at the end of the first half for a 2-0 lead into the break.
Rodcliff Robinson then added an insurance third goal in the 69th minute as they extended their winning run after they were held 1-1 in their opening game by Falmouth United.
Chapleton, who were coming off a draw on Wednesday, had to dig deep to avoid their first loss of the season.
J’Havier Lynch gave Chapleton the lead in the 19th minute and they led 1-0 at the half. But Kemar Miller’s second-half brace gave Portlanders FC a 2-1 advantage.
Miller levelled the scores at 1-1 in the 59th minute then gave Portlanders FC the lead in the 70th minute and was seemingly on course for an upset win. But Kaheim Dixon came up with a goal in the fourth minute of time added at the end of the second half to salvage a point for Chapleton.
Patrick Shecklude scored a second half hat-trick, his first of the competition, to lead Falmouth United to a big win as they contnued their momentum up the table.
Falmouth United led 2-1 at the half-time break thanks to a double from Kemar Reid, while Adam Griffiths got the goal for Downs YC.
Shecklude, however, took the game away from Downs YC with goals in the 52nd, 71st, and 79th minutes. Akeem Hastings added the sixth in the 86th minute.
Hopewell United rebounded from their hammering at the hands of Falmouth United on Wednesday, coming from a goal down to outscore Wadada United 3-2 at Orchard Sports Club.
Solomon Vassell had given Wadada United the lead in the fourth minute, but goals from Shamour Smith in the 17th minute, Ryan Walker in the 43rd, and Lorenzo Stennett in the 52nd minute took Hopewell United to a 3-1 lead.
Everado Chambers scored in the 65th minute to give Wadada United a glimmer of hope for at least a point.
At Drax Hall in St Ann both goals in the 1-1 result came in the dying embers. Andre Ridley gave Baptist Alliance the lead in the 90th minute but Ronaldo Hanson scored three minutes into added time for Lime Hall Academy to earn a point.
