Jackson leads 18 Jamaicans at Diamond League finale in Oregon
Reigning Diamond League women’s 200m champion Shericka Jackson will be among 18 Jamaicans who will be part of the two-day final at Hayward Field, Eugene, Oregon, Saturday and Sunday.
Jackson, who will attempt the sprint double, as she did last year, was one of two Jamaicans, in addition to Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who won Diamond League trophies last year.
The 29 year-old Jackson is one of two Jamaican World Athletics Championships gold medallist, sprint hurdler Danielle Williams and another eight medallists from last month’s World Championships who will be seeking Diamond trophies and the US$30,000 bonus prize.
Jackson will be the only Jamaican in the women’s 200m final set for Sunday’s second day and will be joined by 4x100m relay medallist Natasha Morrison and Elaine Thompson-Herah in the 100m set for Saturday.
World Championships finalists and women’s 4x400m relay medallist Candice McLeod will line up in the women’s 400m, Natoya Goule-Toppin will contest the women’s 800m, while Williams and Olympic Games bronze medallist Megan Tapper are set to run the 100m hurdles.
