World champion Shericka Jackson rebounded to win the women’s 200m at Tuesday’s Istvan Gyulai Memorial at Bregyó Athletic Centerin Szekesfehervar, Hungary, a World Athletic Continental Tour gold event.

Jamaicans Andrenette Knight and Yohan Blake also recorded wins.

Jackson, who lost in the 100m to American Sha’Carri Richardson at a Diamond League meet in Poland on Sunday, cruised to a 22.02 seconds (1.0m/s) clocking, returning to winning ways as the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, draws closer.

Knight ran a personal best 53.26 seconds to lead a Jamaican sweep of the women’s 400m hurdles, while Yohan Blake also led a Jamaican sweep of the podium places in the men’s 100m.

Meanwhile, national record holder Rusheen McDonald ran 44.03 seconds for second in the men’s 400m, his second-fastest time, ever, while there were upsets in the women’s 100m and men’s 200m events.

St Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who was making her professional debut, beat high-riding Richardson in the women’s 100m, running 10.89 seconds (0.7m/s) to the American’s 10.97 seconds.

Jamaica’s Natasha Morrison was seventh in 11.32 seconds.

Meanwhile, Jackson was never challenged as she took over the lead at the top of the home stretch and won easily, while Briana Williams, who was running only her second 200m of the season, was seventh in a season’s best 23.38 seconds.

Ireland’s Rhasidat Adeleke, who was making her professional debut, took second in 22.36 seconds, while Anthonique Strachan of the Bahamas was third in 22.45 seconds.

Knight, who was second at the JAAA national championships, got off to a fast start and held on to win, beating her previous best of 53.39 seconds set last year.

The mark moved her into fifth place all-time on the Jamaican list and third in the world.

She led home a procession of Jamaicans with national champion Janieve Russel placing second in season’s best 53.72 seconds, Russell Clayton was third also with a season best 53.79 seconds and Shiann Salmon fourth with 55.04 seconds.

Yohan Blake, the 2011 World Championships 100m gold medallist, ran 10.04 seconds (-0.1m/s) to win the event, Ackeem Blake (10.09) and national champion Rohan Watson (10.10 seconds).

Ryiem Forde, who was making his European debut, was sixth in 10.19 seconds.

McDonald, who only contested the first round of the men’s 400m at the recent JAAA National Championships, ran his second-fastest time, ever, and best since the 2015 World Championship as he placed second behind Steven Gardiner’s world leading 43.74 seconds.

There were also second-place finishes for long jumper Tajay Gayle and sprint hurdler Hansle Parchment.

Gayle led from the fourth round when he jumped 8.24m (1.0m/s) but was passed on the final jump by Greece’s World Champion and Olympic Games winner Miltiadis Tentoglou who won with 8.29m (-0.3m/s).

Parchment and compatriot Mason Tyler were credited with the same time 13.14 seconds (0.5m/s) with the Olympic champion given second behind Daniel Roberts who won with 13.12 seconds while Damion Thomas was fifth with 13.45 seconds.

National champion Andrew Hudson was third in the men’s 200m in 20.36 seconds (1.1m/s), just ahead of Julian Forte in 20.41 seconds with Michael Campbell sixth in 20.75 seconds.

Alexander Ogando won the race in 19.99 seconds, upsetting American Erriyon Knighton ( 20.05 seconds).

Newly crowned first-time Jamaican champion Adelle Tracey was fifth in the women’s 1,500m, running a season’s best 4:02.51 minutes, while Charokee Young was sixth in the women’s 400m in 51.35 and Chanice Porter was also sixth in the women’s long jump with 6.53m.
