Leroy Cooper had no equals as he soared to the top of his game to be crowned May Pen champion of that town’s stop in the electrifying Supreme Domino Master Series at the Hotel Versalles in May Pen, Clarendon, on Sunday.

Over 150 skilled domino players gathered to compete, but Cooper was too hot as he outclassed the field to run away with the grand prize of $150,000, plus bragging rights as May Pen’s champion.

After four intense rounds of play, Cooper led all and was followed by Oneil McKenzie, second place, Adene Higgins third, and Archilous Lennon taking fourth place.

An elated Cooper said: “Mi feel good. From me reach the second round, I felt like I would win the championship today. The competition was fierce, but I stayed focused and played my best game. I am very happy to be crowned as the Supreme Domino Master of May Pen.”

The Supreme Domino Master Series has been creating waves throughout Jamaica, with its community qualifiers drawing in a competitive crowd of over 200 participants at each stop, all vying for the coveted title of Supreme Domino Master.

David White was crowned Portmore’s champion, Garfield Brissett earned bragging rights after the Spanish Town stop and Gerry Gardner was the last man standing after the first stop in Montego Bay.

Dwayne Tulloch, senior vice-president of retail and customer operations at Supreme Ventures Limited, expressed delight at the continued success of the series.

“The competition has been nothing short of amazing, and we are excited to witness the growth and impact of the Supreme Domino Master Series on Jamaica’s domino culture. The series has been growing with each stop as we see more people turning out and some have become familiar faces as they follow the series to each community.

“We, especially, love the enthusiasm and passion of the spectators and players and we congratulate Leroy Cooper on his victory and are looking forward to the next tournament, which will be held at Caymanas Park on May 21,” Tulloch stated.

The Supreme Domino Master Series encourages those interested in participating in the tournament to purchase their tickets from any of the 16 ticket outlets islandwide, including Fontana Pharmacy branches, select Texaco service stations, Supreme Ventures retail centres, Pier One, and online at caribtix.com. Tickets for the community qualifiers are available for $1,000 per person, while tickets for the finals will be available for $5,000 per person.

The top 16 competitors from each community will automatically qualify to compete in the national championship on June 4. The winner of the grand finals will receive $1 million and the title of Jamaica’s National Domino Champion.
