LLANDILO, Westmoreland — Sav-la-Mar United and Petersfield FC, winners in the opening round of the Westmoreland Football Association/Victor Lowe Major League, will meet in the second game of a double-header at Llandilo on Sunday, set to start at 6:00 pm.
Sav-la-Mar United and Petersfield FC are part of a five-way tie for the lead early in the season and the winner, if there is one, will take sole leadership — at least until Tuesday when the league continues.
In the first game, set to start at 4:00 pm, Belmont Uprising and Grange Hill, who both lost their opening games, will meet as they go after their first points of the season.
On Thursday Russia FC got off to a winning start after edging West Development 2-1 at Llandilo Sports Complex.
Russia FC join four other teams that won their opening games while Straths FC and Barracks Road played out a 0-0 draw in the second game of the double-header.
Gavain Bantin and Lynval Whyte scored for Russia FC while Konrad Blake got West Development's consolation.
Tuscanny Warriors, who just failed to qualify for the Tier II competition earlier in the season, lead the points tables on goal difference after their 5-1 win over Grange Hill, Sav La Mar United are second, followed by Petersfield FC, Russia FC and Twelfth Street, all winners of their opening games.
