Sunshine Cereals Intermediate Netball League launched

The Sunshine Cereals Intermediate Netball League was officially launched on Saturday at the third attempt, after inclement weather twice before led to the postponement of the launch event.

The league is being sponsored to the tune of $1 million by Confectionery and Snacks Jamaica Limited, through their brand Sunshine Cereals, for the eighth consecutive year.

Brand Manager Keisha Prince said that the impact that netball has had on Brand Jamaica makes it a perfect fit for her company to align themselves with the sport through the sponsorship of the Intermediate league.

“Our team is thrilled to be sponsoring the 2023 Intermediate League Competition. Over the years, our netball players have significantly amplified the vibrancy of Brand Jamaica, inspiring Sunshine Cereals to renew its commitment to nurturing talent at this developmental stage.

“We are confident that this ongoing collaboration between Sunshine Cereals and Netball Jamaica will bring immense value to both our brands and the teams.

“Our alliance with Netball Jamaica has an impressive history spanning eight years. Every year, we acknowledge the imperative role we play in fostering the growth of these promising young ladies and ensuring the continued success of this annual competition.”

Twenty-eight teams will be competing for the 2023 Sunshine Cereals Intermediate League title this year.

Prince said that netball has had a far-reaching effect on the ladies that participate in the league each year.

“Netball is more than just a sport; it’s a training ground for valuable life skills. By training and interacting as a team, players acquire discipline, accountability, leadership, resilience, and a strong spirit.

“In today’s age, we witness first-hand the impact of this sport on our young women, offering them the chance to explore various career paths.”

Prince also had a special message for the participants in the league. “You are driven, well-prepared, and ready to give your best. We take immense pride in your accomplishments, and we’re confident in your ability to excel.”

President of Netball Jamaica Tricia Robinson who also spoke at the launch on Saturday encouraged the ladies to give of their best every time they take to the court to play the sport they love.

“Let your passion for the game shine every time you go on the court,” she urged the players.

Police A & B won the dress parade while Queens Park were second and the JCF team, third.
