With just one win from eight matches so far this season, head coach of Jamaica Premier League (JPL) outfit Tivoli Gardens Jermaine “Teddy” Johnson said his outfit will be actively pursuing a number of targets in this month’s transfer window with the aim of improving fortunes.

Tivoli, who are in the 11th place in the 14-team standing with six points, were outclassed 3-0 by Cavalier in their last encounter on Monday at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex. The defeat was the West Kingston-based team’s fourth of the season. Tivoli have scored eight goals, while conceding 13.

Johnson, who is a former national midfielder, told the Jamaica Observer that he is very concerned with his team’s overall performance in the JPL this season and will be aggressively looking to improve their defensive and attacking areas in particular.

“We are looking to go in there [transfer market)]and so I am just trying to get the right players to come in and help the team,” said Johnson. “I think we need defenders and centre forwards and so that is what we are looking for to be honest right now.

“We have to do it fast because we don’t have any time to settle or wait, so we just have to just grind out for now and see how far we can go because we need to start winning matches very quickly,” Johnson shared.

Johnson said that despite their poor run of form, his team has not been playing badly because they have had their opportunities to win games.

“We have had many chances to win games, but I think one of our biggest problems is that we need to stop the little gaps and cut out the little soft mistakes and come out and just try to play right the way,” Johnson said.
