ST ANN, Jamaica – Omar ‘Rambo’ Wedderburn has thrown in the towel as coach of Treasure Beach FC mid-way through their first season in the Wray and Nephew Jamaica Premier League.

He made the announcement in a post-match interview after Sunday’s 1-0 loss to fellow promoted team Lime Hall Academy at Drax Hall, St Ann.

Treasure Beach, who Wedderburn guided to the Jamaica Football Federation Championship (formerly Tier II) title ahead of Lime Hall Academy last season, have lost 12 straight games and are next to last in the 14-team table.

A 69th minute penalty conversion by Marlon Pennicooke gave Lime Hall Academy their first win of the season, snapping their eight-game losing skid.

Despite the win, Lime Hall are still at the foot of the table with seven points, the same as Treasure Beach but with an inferior goal-difference.

Cavalier SC meanwhile have taken over the lead in the table after edging Waterhouse FC 1-0 and moving past champions Mt Pleasant FA who played out a 1-1 draw against Molynes United.

Jalmaro Calvin scored in the 67th minute for Cavalier SC as they improved to 37 points, one more than Mt Pleasant FC.

It took a goal late in stoppage time for Mt Pleasant FA to earn a point from Molynes United, who led from the 27th minute through Jevaughn Brown.

Sue Lae McCalla’s header in the eighth minute of stoppage time however salvaged a point for Mt Pleasant FA.

Third placed Portmore United also came from a goal down to draw against Dunbeholden FC 1-1 at Ferdie Neita Park.

Chevoy Watkin gave Dunbeholden FC the lead in the 23rd minute before Stephen Young equalised in the 74th minute.

Dunbeholden FC finished the game with 10 players after Saneeki Burton was sent off in the 88th minute.

Also on Sunday, Montego Bay United beat Vere United 2-0 at Wespow Park, Courtney Allen giving the home team the lead in the 27th minute and Jean Claudio Rios Ferreira adding a second goal in the 51st minute when he converted a penalty.

Allen was sent off in the 65th minute when he was shown a second yellow.
