Deandre Ayton’s Jamaican mom cooks for Los Angeles Lakers team
Los Angeles Lakers centre Deandre Ayton recently hosted a meal for his team members and coaches, treating them to the traditional Jamaican cuisine prepared by his Jamaican mother, Andrea Ayton.
“We’re cooking for the Lakers today. I am excited. I am overwhelmed,” Andrea said in a video posted on the Los Angeles Lakers YouTube page.
“We got here at 3 am this morning. Yesterday we came in, and we cut up all our herbs and stuff. Season up our meat, clean up, and then we went home and then back here,” she added.
On the menu were oxtail, curry mutton, fried chicken, jerk chicken, rice and peas, and stir-fried vegetables.
Andrea was assisted in the meal preparation by her sister Jacquiline Dixon and her friend Hopeton Dunkley.
“I appreciate DA and his family for doing this for us. “It is always good to have a home-cooked meal,” said Lakers forward Adou Thiero.
