JET gets financial boost
THE Jamaica Environmental Trust (JET) recently received a financial boost when power company, Jamaica Energy Partners, donated US$10,000 to the environmental organisation.
Of the sum, US$7,500 will be placed in JET’s permanent fund and the remaining US$2,500 will go towards the School’s Environment Programme, JET’s major project.
JET was established in 1991 and focuses on education and advocacy. The School’s Environment Programme is implemented in approximately 300 schools, and JET runs this project in collaboration with 15 other non-governmental organisations.
The Jamaica Energy Partners’ financial controller, Raymond Grant, said: “We do hope that many other organisation will make similar donations to this area of the country’s survival that cannot be ignored.”
The power company is owner of the 74 megawatt power barge in Old Harbour.
