JAMAICA’S Ambassador to the United States, Seymour Mullings, was recently presented with the highest honour of the Land Surveyors Association of Jamaica (LSAJ), for his years of service to the profession and his distinguished career in the public service.

The award, Honourable Membership, was bestowed on Mullings in Washington, recently, when a 10-member LSAJ delegation called on the Ambassador. The members were in the city to attend the 22nd Congress of the International Federation of Surveyors.

Presenting the award to Ambassador Mullings, the LSAJ president, Horace Manderson, lauded him for his “outstanding contribution to nation-building, both as a commissioned land surveyor and a career politician, who operated at the highest professional and ethical standards”.

“In bestowing upon you one of the highest honours in our association, the status of honourable member, we underscore our gratitude for your years of service to our country,” he added.

Manderson also thanked Ambassador Mullings for his support to the organisation, his continued interest in the profession, and his efforts in helping to raise the profile of this vocation among the general public.

In his response, Mullings thanked the LSAJ for its recognition. He also praised the organisation for its work in “instilling a high level of professionalism within the field, its efforts to encourage excellence among its members, as well as other young surveyors entering the profession”.

Mullings reiterated his commitment to assisting the organisation and to actively contribute to its goals and objectives.

The LSAJ, was formed in 1928, seeks as its main objective to protect the professional interests of our membership, as well as to ensure continued education and training for both our full members and our student surveyors.
