Olivia Newton-John, Rod Stewart, Boyz II Men top Billboard’s sexiest songs

Olivia Newton-John, Rod Stewart, Boyz II Men top Billboard’s sexiest songs

With Valentine being the acknowledged season for lovers, music bible, Billboard has ranked the 50 sexiest songs of all time with Olivia Newton-John, Rod Stewart, Boyz II Men ranking first, second and third respectively.

According to Billboard, “These are, literally, the 50 most popular songs about sex ever, as based on each song’s performance on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (from August 4, 1958 — the inception of the Hot 100 chart — through the January 16, 2010 issue).

Sitting at the top of the list is Physical by Olivia Newton-John. The 61-year-old Newton-John has four Grammy Awards but currently spends much of her time on her charitable projects. She is a British-born Australian actress who starred in Grease, is currently in Toronto shooting the film Score: A Hockey Musical, in which she portrays a hockey star’s parent.

In the Billboard survey, Rod Stewart came close at No 2 with 1976’s Tonight’s the Night and also landed another song on the top 10 with Do Ya Think I’m Sexy.

Boyz II Men place third with the 1995 hit, I’ll Make Love To You.

At number five is Marvin Gaye with Let’s Get It On (1973), and Gaye comes in again at number 34 with the blockbuster, Sexual Healing.

At number 32 is Patti Labelle and company’s Lady Marmalade, a tale of a bi-lingual New Orleans call girl. The sexiest lyric in this song is identified as: “Voulez-vouz coucher avec moi, ce soir?”

Obviously absent froom this list is soul singer, Barry White.

“Some songs are steamy slow-jams, some are hi-octane arena-rockers, but what they all have in common (and what got them on this list) is that the subject matter of each song is directly related to sex, in some way,” Billboard said in a statement Friday.
