MANCHESTER, Jamaica— A couple was killed during a home invasion by masked gunmen in Farm district, south Manchester on Saturday morning.

The deceased have been identified by relatives as bar operators Kaydene Isaacs and Rohan Bernard, otherwise called Rocky.

Preliminary reports from the police are that about 2:00 am, four masked men armed with a rifle and handguns breached a grille and entered a house where they demanded valuables from a woman in the presence of her two young children, before turning to another section of the home where Bernard and Isaacs were in their bedroom.

Police said the couple reportedly barricaded themselves in their bedroom at which point the woman and her children were told to leave the premises by the gunmen.

Loud explosions were subsequently heard coming from the house, and the couple was found afterwards suffering from gunshot wounds. They died at the scene.

Hours later, after detectives processed the scene amid onlookers, including relatives and friends, the bodies were removed to the morgue.

Isaacs’ cousin Kady-Ann Smith described the couple as hardworking people.

“She [Isaacs] was a calm person… She was always working… Bernard just go to his bar and come home [after]. People who just work and live,” said Smith.
