It’s Girls’ night out!
Sex and the City has always been about friendship, sisterhood (and yes sex). But let’s not kid ourselves, it’s also about the fashion. In anticipation of the glamorous Sex and the City 2 premiere — à la Kerry manwomanhome, Guardian Asset Management and the Jamaica Observer — here’s a peek at what’s in store for the fab four during their latest outing…what are the fashions? What trials and triumphs await them?
Carrie
The carefree, the sartorially uninhibited Carrie Bradshaw has always been the thoughtful force that holds the fabulous quartet together. It’s been two years since the infamous single girl tied the knot with Mr Big and Sex and the City 2 finds our heroine trying to navigate the tricky confines of marriage. A romp through Abu Dhabi offers temporary solace, but even halfway across the world our favourite gal pal is dogged by her own question — “What happens after you say, ‘I do’?”
Charlotte
Pretty in pink. Charlotte, known for her classic take on fashion, keeps her conservative threads alive in this demure Dior number. On the homefront, there’s trouble in paradise for this stylish homemaker, as the strain of raising two kids is starting to take its toll. On the group’s welcome trip to Abu Dhabi she even admits: “I needed the break.”
Miranda
The demands of maintaining a high-stress law career collide with those of raising a child for the pragmatic Miranda Hobbes. Miranda and the other mum of the group, Charlotte, bond in this film on they share the travails of domestic life, with Miranda stating, “Motherhood is hard.”
Samantha
Daring Samantha Jones always made personal pleasure and sexy style (just look at that seductive metallic number perked up by the print-python bag) a woman’s prerogative. She’s also one of the fiercest defenders of friendship and loyalty throughout the series — all remain intact in Sex And The City 2, declaring to the girls: “We made a deal ages ago — man, babies, it doesn’t matter; we’re soulmates.”
