‘Be’ Stylish
Last weekend, Trinidad was the Caribbean’s party capital for fashion, food and funk, and the Carlton Savannah the place to be seen.
Your Under The Dryer team checked out the hair and make-up preparations backstage, ahead of the amazing fashion shows that featured the 2010 collections of Meiling, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Anthony Reid.
The complete look is, as we all know, as important as the fashionable threads worn down the runway. Make-up for the models was executed by the team from MAC, while the minimalistic hairstyles were created by Trinidad’s most in-demand hairstylist Ashvin Bally.
“Meiling,” explained Bally, “wanted for her Noir collection a clean look inspired by the Japanese woman: high ponytail, twisted in a casual knot and slicked in place using a small amount of gel.” The hairstyles, although elegant, certainly did not distract from the amazing designs. Bally also worked his magic on the male models, separating and twisting spiral locks in place.
