My Kingston – Adam Epstein
Investor Relations Proven Management LTD.
What are your earliest memories of Kingston?
The World Cup qualifiers for France in 1998. As a kid I remember juggling the football from the National Stadium all the way up to Manor Park Centre, with the country celebrating Jamaica’s accomplishment in making the World Cup after its nil-all draw versus Mexico.
What do you miss when you are not in Kingston?
The beach on a Sunday; there is no better time to be had than going to Lime Cay or Maiden Cay with a great group of friends.
What are your favourite home comforts?
A good home-cooked meal, relaxing with my laptop while surfing the Internet and listening to tunes from my home entertainment system.
What would you do if you were mayor (of Kingston) for a day?
One day would not be enough to do what I would want for Kingston. However, my focus would be targeting a project in the area of early childhood education, as our children are Jamaica’s future.
Share with us the title of the last book you read.
The Art of War by Sun Tzu – a bestseller that’s considered to be one of the most prestigious and influential books on strategy in the world right now. For me it’s like the Bible.
What’s your middle name?
Jordan. Everyone who knows me well, however, calls me by my nickname Cinco.
And the last bit of music that stirred your soul?
Vybz Kartel’s Straight Jeans and Fitted.
What was your last bit of retail therapy?
A Pair of Calvin Klein loafers and a Tumi briefcase.
Which cologne are you currently splashing?
Christian Dior’s Homme.
What is your preferred beverage?
Appleton on the rocks. A true rum drinker has it on the rocks.
What was your most memorable meal in Kingston?
Although there are so many amazing restaurants to choose from in Kingston, nothing hits the spot like a French chicken sandwich from Burger King.
What are your current projects?
Working with the team at Proven to establish a new brand of financial advisory, studying for my CFA and starting my non-profit organisation.
What upsets you?
People who evade the truth.
Share your favourite spots on the island.
Sitting on the deck in Port Antonio listening to my mom Play Ernie Smith in the background with Life is Just for Living repeating itself over and over as if the CD has scratched.
Share some places in your black book.
Island Outpost’s Strawberry Hill, Club Mynt on South Beach, and The Wall at the W Hotel.
What’s your advice to a first-time visitor to Kingston?
For a great stay – Spanish Court Hotel, for great eats – Market Place, for good vibes – check out Fiction and for a day on the beach Maiden Cay – is a must!
What’s your philosophy?
Remember the past but live for today. Always look forward to the future as it will be bright.
