JC’s Salmon upgraded to first in Penn Relays discus
PHILADELPHIA, United States—Jamaica College’s Joseph Salmon upgraded his second place from last year to first in the high school boys’ discus throw at the 130th Penn Relays at Franklin Field, while Edwin Allen High’s Addison James retained his javelin throw title on Friday.
Salmon threw 63.55m to take the discus title, where he had just three legal throws as he swept the ISSA Boys’ Champs and Carifta Games Under-20 titles.
Calabar High’s Kamari Kennedy was second with 61.19m, followed by Munro College’s Rajeem Streete with 60.25m, Kingston College’s Daijon Budhai with 57.63m.
Calabar’s DeAndre Henry was seventh with 52.68m.
James, the Dominican national Under- 20 record holder, threw 72.44m, third best at the championships, moving up from 10th place with his winning throw of 65.98m last year.
Kingston College’s Nkosana Johnson was third in the shot put championships with 19.15m.
