Supermarket packaging chicken parts in bathroom?
Dear Claudienne
I went to a supermarket in St Ann in July to shop and while I was there I asked to use the bathroom. When I went into the bathroom I noticed that the workers were packing chicken foot, neck and back into two-pound plastic packets.
I asked the workers how they came to be packaging the chicken parts in the bathroom and they said that they were following the boss’s instructions.
In my opinion this practice is insanitary and dangerous. Could you please look into this matter.

Dear CS
We asked the St Ann Public Health Department to investigate your complaint. The Chief Public Health Inspector sent public health inspectors to the supermarket to investigate. They reported that from their observations, no chicken back or foot or neck was being retailed at the supermarket in small packages. The inspectors said that they saw prepackaged chicken in the amount of 25 lbs to a box being sold.
The chief inspector said that a total of three visits have been made to the establishment at different times, and the practice you said you observed was not noticed. The health department said that they will continue to have the supermarket in question under close observation.
Good luck.
Dear Claudienne
I am a retired superintendent of police and I live in St James. My pension is paid through the Accountant General. On June 25 I sent a life certificate to the Accountant General by priority mail to inform them that I was alive. They said they did not receive it so on July 16 I sent a second life certificate to the department by priority mail.
The Department again said that they did not get it but when I checked with the post office they said that it was delivered to the Accountant General’s office on July 19 at 11:05 am and they named the member of staff who received it and signed for it.
I pointed this out to them but they have refused to release my pension cheques for the months of June and July.
Could you check into this matter for me.
CG
Tell Claudienne spoke to the head of the pensions department who told us to instruct you to phone her. We note that you spoke with her and that you have now received your pension cheques for June and July.
Good luck.
