Partying with P’more’s fashionable
BILLED as a party for the chic set, Fashion, Beach Beads and Bangles held at Portmore’s Coruba Beach, was a non-stop rush of giveaways, excitement and fun last Saturday..
Although promoted as being a day party set to begin at 2:00 pm, patrons did not start arriving until after 8:00 pm.
According to promoter of the party, Richie of Drenz Fashions, “The party suppose to lock off at 12:00 but because people hear Coruba Beach dem tink is an all night ting. The party lock off at 5:00 am and we had to lock off the soun cause the people dem neva wah go home,” he stated. The promoters pulled out all the stops as everything was in place — food, Smirnoff bar stocked and musical styling from ZJ Ice, ZJ Wah Wa, Wizzle and the Rockwildaz selectors.
The Mardi Gras theme of the party sought to have the ladies trying to charm the men out of their beads and the men vice versa with the patron having the most beads winning a cash prize. The ladies danced the night away holding the attention of their male counterparts all in an effort to collect beads.
One highlight of the event was the ‘paparazzi booth’ hosted by Intense host Chica Pepita. The paparazzi booth was the area where the most fashionable people on the beach were given a chance to be interviewed.
The night’s highly anticipated fashion show, although it got off to a very late start, featured designs from Balla Shawn, Sassy Couture and A Wah Suh. To top off the night’s activities, Magnum Kings and Queens of the Dancehall favourite Tanto Blacks gave a crowd-pleasing performance with his usual eccentric persona — did somebody say “Twitter”?
The monthly party continues in 2011, with the new year edition on January 29.
