Stars come out for LIME TV launch
With a healthy roster of local artistes an entertainment personalities endorsing the brand, it was only natural that the entertainment fraternity was well-represented at Thursday night’s launch of LIME’s latest innovation — LIME TV.
Beenie and Bounty rubbed shoulders with Khago and Ce’Cile, while Timberlee, Ishawna and Denyque all mingled with a host of LIME executives, members of the media and other specially invited guests.
The SportsMax Zone in New Kingston became command centre for the James Bond-esque product launch. From swipe card invitations and electronic countdown to the humourous video outlining the offerings on LIME TV. However, it was when the package was delivered to the mysterious GG, that things got more entertaining as the the GG turned out to be LIME-endorsed artiste, Mavado who turned over the evening’s proceedings to LIME’s local head honchos, Garfield Sinclair and Chris Dehring.
LIME customers in the Greater Kingston area, and St Catherine, including Portmore, will be the first to be able to access the service in LIME’s phased rollout.
The list of channels that will be available at launch reads like an All-Star line-up-among them CNN, ESPN, Sportsmax, NBC, Hype TV and even the Cartoon Channel for kids. More channels, including a Pay Per View (PPV) offering, will be added within the coming weeks.
In announcing the availability of the eagerly awaited offering, Chris Dehring, Chairman of LIME Jamaica said: “This is a historic moment. Many of us here in Jamaica remember exactly when TV changed from black and white to colour. We also remember exactly when LIME introduced mobile phones to Jamaica. The merger of these two technologies will also now be forever remembered as a seminal moment – when a mobile phone truly became more than just a phone.”
LIME TV handsets will go on sale in LIME Stores on Monday, December 13.
The official launch culminated with a live performance of For Your Eyes Only — the latest collaboration by diamond-selling Reggae artiste Shaggy and songbird Alaine. This track has just hit the number one spot on the New York Reggae singles chart.
