Let’s go Dancin’ continues this weekend
Mandeville and the tourist resort of Ocho Rios are gearing up for the highly anticipated Let’s go Dancin’ Christmas “Triple Bill”; the oldies party series, which kicked off at Mandeville’s Tropics View Hotel on Saturday December 18.
The session moves north to popular Ocean’s 11 Ocho Rios for an unprecedented double play on Saturday December 25 (Christmas Day) and Monday December 27 (celebrated as Boxing Day), beginning at 7.00 pm.
It will be a special holiday weekend as on December27, Michael Barnett will be celebrating 40 years in the Jamaican entertainment industry in the USA and here in Jamaica, spanning the roles of record collector/musicologist, disc jockey, record store owner, party and concert promoter; conceptualizer/founder of the celebrated Heineken Startime; Inseparable … Dennis Brown & Friends and Get Ready Rock Stead” series; sole founder of the Fashion Awards Academy of Jamaica (FAAJ), Miguel Models and The Jamaica Association Of Vintage Artistes and Affiliates (JAVAA). Barnett now doubles as an entertainment consultant and freelance show presenter on Kool 97FM.
Gladdy Parker and his Wild Bunch Disco have been celebrating their 45th anniversary of presenting wonderful party music since 2010 began; and over the 45 years the disco has played for partygoers here in Jamaica and select cities in the USA.
The Lets Go Dancin’ series sees Michael Barnett, Gladdy Parker and special guest Colin Hines (December 27 in Ocho Rios only) behind the turntables, weaving their musical magic with CDs (Parker) and vinyl records (Barnett and Hines); and patrons are again in for a memorable night of top class oldies; spanning the eras of the 60s right into the early 80s and all three selectors have promised “to take no prisoners back to Kingston,” so be sure to wear your dancing shoes!!
