The Blackburns: new season premieres on Sunday
THIS Sunday marks the season premiere of The Blackburns, of Royal Palm Estate, which brings back the excitement of Jamaica’s favourite drama to local television.
The arrest of Richard Blackburn by Senior Superintendent of Police Foster for cultivating marijuana provides enough fodder to set tongues wagging in every strata of society. To prevent the extradition of Sonny Tavares by the United States, the Jamaican government declared a state of emergency. This did not prevent Sonny T’s escape leaving egg on somebody’s face. His son, Farouk owes more than a debt of gratitude to Inspector Madden but will he collect?
How does Marcus react when one of his university lecturers takes more than a passing interest in him? Is this about ‘extra lessons’ or just another cougar on the prowl? A former Miss Jamaica-turned- television presenter — Regina Beavers — makes her acting debut as Dr Shemina Brodber.
The Blackburns’ mosaic grows with the return of Assistant Commissioner McLaren. Due to the demand of viewers for a longer season, the show will now run for twenty-one episodes — each packaged in 30-minute slots. The Blackburns of Royal Palm Estate will air on CVM TV at 9:00 pm on Sundays with an encore at 10:00 pm on Wednesdays.
