UPDATE: Deceased in three-vehicle Spur Tree Hill crash identified
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The man killed in a three vehicle crash on the Spur Tree Hill main road in Manchester this afternoon has been identified.
He is 69-year-old Glaston Heron from Four Paths in Clarendon.
The crash involved a Suzuki Swift motor car, being driven by Heron, an International motor truck and a Kenworth motor truck.
The Corporation Communications Unit (CCU) of the Jamaica Constabulary Force said that the Suzuki Swift was behind the International truck heading towards St Elizabeth while the Kenworth truck was going in the opposition direction.
According to the CCU, Heron attempted to overtake the International truck but failed.
In his attempt to re-enter his lane the Swift reportedly hit the International truck and got out of control, ending up in the path of the Kenworth truck.
Police say the Heron had a passenger in the car he was driving and that person is now in hospital. The drivers of the two trucks are unhurt.
The CCU earlier this afternoon issued an advisory that the roadway was impassable.
