Mt Pleasant avenge loss to Dunbeholden with 4-0 win

DRAX HALL, St Ann — Leaders Mt Pleasant FA exacted revenge against Dunbeholden FC, beating them 4-0 in their second round Jamaica Premier League game played at Drax Hall on Sunday, atoning for their 3-2 first round loss.

Shaquille Bradford and Raheem Edwards continued their hot scoring run as they both found the net to help the Theodore Whitmore-coached Mt Pleasant to their seventh straight win to improve to 37 points, four more than Montego Bay United and Arnett Gardens, both tied for second on 34 points after wins over Chapelton Maroons and Racing United respectively.

Bradford bagged a goal for the third straight game as he opened the scoring in the 17th minute with his seventh of the season before Sue-Lae MaCalla added the second in the 28th minute. Edwards made the score 3-0 in the 56th minute, his sixth goal of the campaign, scoring in back-to-back games, while Kyle Ming added a fourth goal in the 66th minute.

Brian Brown scored a double to lead MBU to a come form behind 2-1 win over Chapelton Maroons at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, taking over the goal scoring lead with his 10th goal. He has found the back of the net in four of his team’s last five games.

Chapelton Maroons, who were unbeaten in their last three games under new coach Jermaine Douglas, took the lead in the eighth minute when Damari Deacon scored a rebound after MBU’s goalkeeper Davonnie Burton saved a penalty taken by Leaunghn Williams. Brown equalised in the 34th minute before giving his team the lead in the 52nd minute, both times scoring from close range from crosses.

Arnett Gardens left it late, scoring two goals in the final four minutes of regulation against Racing United with Marlon Martin giving them the lead in the 86th minute before Fabian Reid killed off the contest with a second goal in the first minute of time added.

Peter McGregor got a double as Molynes United scored three times in the first half to beat Harbour View 3-1 and avenge their first round loss, getting back-to-back wins after beating Vere United 5-0 last week.

McGregor scored a quick double, scoring in the 16th and 29th minutes while Devone Davis added a third in the 42nd minute in a dominant display.

Oquassa Chong came off the bench to score a penalty in time added for Harbour View who have lost their last four games and are winless in their last eight matches.

Vere United edged last placed Humble Lion 1-0 at Effortville with Robino Gordon scoring in the 87th minute as they snapped a two-game losing skid.
