JFF appoints Roy Simpson as acting gen sec

The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has announced the appointment of general manager Roy Simpson as acting general secretary effective immediately.

Simpson’s appointment follows the recent resignation of Dennis Chung. Chung stepped down to take up a job with the Financial Investigative Division of the Ministry of Finance.

According to the JFF, Simpson has served the federation with distinction since 2008, playing a pivotal role in numerous national team milestones in his capacity as general manager, including qualification of the Reggae Boyz to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2011; runner-up finishes in the Concacaf Gold Cup in 2015 and 2017; and Caribbean Cup titles in 2010 and 2014.

As part of the organisational restructuring, Omar McFarlane, who currently serves as team ambassador for the U-17 Reggae Boyz, will now assume the role of acting general manager, the JFF said.

JFF President Michael Ricketts, in commenting on the appointments, said: “Mr Simpson is an integral part of the federation, and I am confident that he will bring stability and leadership during what promises to be a demanding summer and the remainder of 2025. Likewise, Omar is a dependable professional whose commitment will serve us well in this new role.”
