Starlink raises Jamaica’s monthly internet price by 6.4 per cent
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Satellite internet provider Starlink has increased the monthly price of its residential internet service in Jamaica to $7,450 from $7,000, marking a 6.4 per cent increase that will take effect from June 18.
In an email sent to customers, the company said the higher rate would apply “beginning with your next billing cycle on or after June 18”.
Starlink said the increase comes as it continues expanding network capacity, coverage and reliability to meet growing demand for high-speed internet services.
“Strong demand for Starlink reflects the value and investment in affordable, high-performance products and services as global operating costs continue to rise,” the company said in the notice.
The company added that customers would continue receiving unlimited data for “4K streaming, gaming, video calls, and high-speed connectivity”.
The latest increase comes as demand grows across Jamaica and the wider Caribbean for alternatives to traditional broadband providers, particularly in rural and underserved communities where fibre-based internet infrastructure remains limited.
Starlink, operated by SpaceX, has rapidly expanded its footprint globally using low-Earth orbit satellites to provide broadband internet coverage.
The price adjustment also reflects broader inflationary pressures affecting telecommunications and digital infrastructure providers worldwide, many of which have faced higher equipment, launch and operating costs in recent years.
