Teen eager to vote for first time
ST JAMES, Jamaica— For 19-year-old Ana-Kay Baker, September 3 can’t come quickly enough because that is the day she will vote in an election for the very first time.
The Carisbrook, St Elizabeth native is currently in Sam Sharpe Square, St James among other green-clad supporters of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) who have turned out for the release of the party’s manifesto.
“I can’t wait to vote, I think it will be a wonderful experience,” Baker told Observer Online.
She credits the JLP with helping her with school-related expenses and she is convinced they should remain in power.
Baker says her vote will be for the JLP candidate in her area, Andrew Morris, and also an endorsement of the leader of the party.
“I will be voting for Andrew Holness because he is a great leader for us,” she said.
