Greenwood unavailable for Reggae Boyz as squad named for World Cup qualifiers

There will be no Mason Greenwood for the Reggae Boyz’ 26-man squad ahead of the opening two games in the final round of Concacaf World Cup Qualifying starting next week.

Head coach Steve McClaren says England-born Greenwood, who received his Jamaican passport recently, told him that he’s not committing to international football at the moment.

He’s reportedly focusing on club football with Ligue 1 club Marseille.

Other English born players Rico Henry, Max Aarons and Lewis Baker are also unavailable for this window.

Captain Andre Blake, Leon Bailey and Bobby Reid are among those missing from the squad due to injury but Shamar Nicholson returns after being left out of the Concacaf Gold Cup in June.

Newcomers in the squad include Sheffield Wednesday’s Bailey Cadamarteri, New York Red Bulls Kyle Duncan and Inter Miami’s Ian Fray.

The team will travel to Bermuda for their game on September 5 before hosting Trinidad and Tobago on September 9.

Only the group winner, which also includes Curacao, will automatically advance to next summer’s FIFA World Cup.

Goalkeepers: Shaquan Davis, Jahmali Waite, Tafari Chambers

Defenders: Damion Lowe, Richard King, Ethan Pinnock, Amari’i Bell, Kyle Duncan, Dexter Lembikisa, Greg Leigh, Mason Holgate

Midfielders: Isaac Hayden, Ian Fray, Jon Russell, Kasey Palmer, Karoy Anderson, Kevon Lambert, Jahshaun Anglin

Forwards: Michail Antonio, Demarai Gray, Kaheim Dixon, Renaldo Cephas, Warner Brown, Tyreece Campbell, Bailey Cadamarteri, Shamar Nicholson
