CLARENDON, Jamaica — Tensions flared at the Kemps Hill High School polling station in Clarendon South Western during the general election proceedings on Wednesday afternoon, when a People’s National Party (PNP) worker confronted Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate Robert Chin, insisting he leave the premises.

The PNP worker argued that Chin should not be allowed inside the polling station, especially since her own party standard-bearer in the constituency, the incumbent Lothan Cousins, had not entered. The exchange quickly became heated, with the female worker shouting: “Him fi come off. Because me MP no come in and him run come tan up a watch.”

In response, Chin said: “You know their slogan — blood and fire… that’s all they talk about.”

Chin was later seen leaving the location along with a few JLP supporters, as the dispute attracted the attention of others gathered at the entrance of the school.

When approached for comment, the Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) supervisor at the location declined to speak on the matter, directing the news team to submit queries to the EOJ head office.
