Florida mom gives birth to 13- pound baby

KINGSTON, Jamaica – A Florida mother shocked  hospital staff after delivering a 13-pound baby at St Joseph Hospital-South in Riverview, Florida , the heaviest in the hospital’s history.

Daniella Hines was surprised when she delivered her son, Annan on September 3. The newborn weighed 13 lbs 15 oz which is almost double the average weight of a typical newborn which, according to University of Rochester Medical Center, is 7 lbs.

According to People Today, Hines’ older son Andre Jr weighed 12 lbs 11 oz at birth but she felt “something different” this time around.

“He was the talk of the maternity ward!” Hines, 40, told the outlet. “I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me?’ What is going on here?’ I felt so much pressure,” she told People Today.

That strange feeling all made sense to her the first time she saw the newborn.

Hines told People Today,  “He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?’ ” she continued “Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14-pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity.”

“I can’t wait to show him when he gets older: ‘Look, you were in the news!'” Hines added.

Hines attributed their son’s height to the fact that she and her husband, Andre Sr, are  both over six feet tall.

“We didn’t expect such a big blessing,” Hines told People Today. “But it’s just more to love!”
