Grammy-winning producer Notnice to spread holiday cheer with Christmas compilation
Since the passage Hurricane Melissa, which devastated several western parishes, locals have been praised for their resilience. As the holidays inch closer, Grammy-winning producer Notnice, having witnessed this, has sought to reward that strength with a project that exudes Christmas cheer.
Notnice, whose team includes singers Jah Vinci and Nordia Mothersille, have visited several affected communities over the past month. He shared that the destruction caused by the Category 5 storm made them decide that a special project was necessary to help uplift the spirits of individuals in these areas. The result is Merry Christmas From Yard.
“This Christmas felt like the right moment to give the people something uplifting,” Notnice explained. “After everything Jamaica has been pushing through in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, I wanted to bring back a little joy, warmth, and togetherness through the music.
Merry Christmas From Yard is my way of reminding the island that, even in rebuilding, we still have our culture, our creativity and our spirit.”
“Each artiste on the project brings a different vibe — from heartfelt to festivity to pure dancehall energy — so fans can expect a feel-good soundtrack for the season that still sounds authentically Jamaican,” he continued.
The four-track Christmas project features a stellar line-up of dancehall stars, including Jah Vinci, D’Yani and Mothersille.
The compilation, which is set to drop on Friday, December 5, via OneRPM, will also feature a track from Notnice’s AI-generated singer S’riah.
Mothersille said being part of the project meant a lot to her, especially having seen the damage left behind by the storm. She said leaning on hope in times like these is paramount as the country enters its rebuilding phase.
“Christmas has always been about comfort and togetherness, so I wanted my contribution to feel warm, sincere, and uplifting. Notnice created a space for us to share that spirit through music, and I’m grateful to add my voice to something that can bring a little peace and positivity to Jamaica this season,” she said.
Notnice also shared that the project also reflects his team’s broader commitment to giving back after partnering with Lion Pride Jamaica and other corporate supporters post-hurricane to deliver essential relief supplies to over 100 families across western Jamaica. The initiative, which combined music with tangible community support, underscored the producer’s belief in using his platform for more than just entertainment.
“
Merry Christmas From Yard not only delivers a festive soundtrack for the season, but also highlights that even amid challenges, music remains a powerful force for joy, unity, and resilience,” he said.
