A Soulful Night at Jazz Must Be

At The Summit in New Kingston on Thursday, Dec 4, vocalist Apryl Jaye delivered the pitch-perfect second edition of Jazz Must Be: A Night of Jazz Fusion, Tribute, and Community Giving.

The concert, held under the distinguished patronage of Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange and presented by title sponsor Island Car Rentals, was a sophisticated musical journey. Sponsors also included Tamia Carey and FMA Customs Brokers.

The two-hour set held patrons captive with a vibrant mix of pure jazz and other genres expertly reimagined through fusion. The musical journey was complemented by the audience’s elegant adherence to the all-or mostly white dress code.

The excitement soared when reggae artiste Duane Stephenson made a surprise appearance, treating the already enthralled crowd to a lively set. Beyond the music, the event had a humanitarian focus, with part-proceeds earmarked for Hurricane Melissa relief efforts.
