Thompson, Clayton to open season at JAAA Fuller-Anderson meet on Saturday

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Olympic and World Championship silver medallist Kishane Thompson, Bryan Levell and relay silver medallists Tia Clayton and Joneille Sith will open their season in the 60m at the Puma Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) Fuller-Anderson Development meet at GC Foster College on Saturday.

There will be nine heats of the men’s 60m which are usually timed finals and Thompson will be up against Levell, fresh from his World Championship 200m bronze, along with the promising Gary Card, Ackeem Blake, Rohan Watson and Emmanuel Srchibald of Guyana and Swept track club.

Thompson has a personal best of 6.48 seconds and all eyes will be watching to see the kind of shape he turns up to start his season.

Blake of Dynamic Track has the fastest personal best of 6.42 seconds and will have to be caught. Levell has a personal best of 6.59 seconds and he will be looking to improve on that.

Former high school stars Dejour Russell (Swept), Adrian Kerr (Dynamic Track) and Jeevan Newby  (Utech) are also down to compete along with 400m hurdler Roshawn Clarke.

The women’s 60m will also be hot as MVP’s Tia Clayton with a personal best of 7.14 seconds will go face-to-face with relay teammate Jonielle Smith (7.18), Natasha Morrison (7.09), Serena Cole (7.20), plus the Bajan duo of Sadia Williams (7.24) and Kishawn Niles (7.12).
