SO2

The mood did not stay solemn for long, however, as the fun-loving cricketer and entrepreneur hit the dance floor as singers Jermaine Blake and Sandra Crawford, backed by the EPark Band, took guests — many of them physicians, scientists, educators, and health-system leaders from across the world on the island for the 2026 Masters of Medicine Conference — down memory lane with renditions of Ray Charles’ Hit the Road Jack and Muddy Waters’ Caldonia. And while the dance floor was the place to be, many found it hard to peel themselves away from the Harlem Nights, Palm Noir-inspired ambience created by Aiesha Panton for Pussbackfoot, and Viva Events. Top shelf handled bar duties ensuring premium liquor flowed freely all night long; while the Flame in Thyme team led by Petra Edwards tantalised the palates.

The event was a welcome break for attendees who had earlier convened at the AC Hotel Kingston for the conference, co-hosted by HIC and Yale Cardiovascular Medicine, under the theme ‘Bridging the Divide: Tackling Obesity and Genetic Heart Disease in the Era of Preventive Cardiology’.
