MANCHESTER, Jamaica—Five people have been charged with breaches of the Law Reform (Fraudulent Conversion Special Provisions) and the Dangerous Drugs Act following operations by detectives assigned to the Anti-Lottery Scam Unit (ALSU) of the Fraud Squad and Financial Crimes Investigation Division in Manchester on Wednesday.

They are: Tyrone Campbell, 34 years old of Decarteret Road, Manchester, who is charged with possession of access device; Ashoni Shaw 33-year-old, of Red Berry district, Porus in Manchester, charged with possession of identity information and possession of access device; Kesbert Turner, 45-year-old of Decarteret Road, Manchester, charged with possession of ganja and dealing in ganja; Victoria Smith, 25-year-old of Decarteret Road, Manchester, charged with possession of ganja and dealing in ganja and Omellio Brown, 21-year-old of Knockpatrick, Manchester, charged with possession of identity information and possession of access device.

Reports are that between 5:00 am and 7:00 pm, simultaneous operations were conducted across the parish, including DeCarteret Road, Red Berry district and the Old Porus district.

During the operations, seven people were taken into custody, five of whom have since been charged.

Additionally, more than $1.8 million in cash was seized, along with nine motor vehicles, including a motorcycle.

Investigations are ongoing.
