Johnmark Wiggan to release new album By Fire

Three years after the release of his début album Validation, gospel reggae artiste Johnmark Wiggan is gearing up for the release of his sophomore album By Fire.

The 12-track project will be launched on Saturday, March 28, at Karl Hendrickson Auditorium at Jamaica College.

Wiggan recently unveiled the artwork for By Fire at a media launch where he gave an insight into the project.

Blending rich Caribbean rhythms with deeply personal storytelling, Wiggan’s music has steadily carved out a space that is both sonically compelling and spiritually resonant. With By Fire he leans further into that identity delivering a body of work that explores growth, refinement, and the often-uncomfortable process of becoming. The project builds on his signature sound while pushing into more vulnerable and reflective territory, capturing moments that many listeners will recognise but rarely articulate.

By Fire is being positioned not only as a musical milestone, but as a platform for impact. In bringing this vision to life, Wiggan has partnered with corporate entities who have aligned with the project’s purpose including brands such as St. Mary’s Snacks, Credit Unions of Jamaica, Honey Bun, Chicken & Tings, CVM, Love101, and a network of creative, production, and media partners.

The singer notes that he has grown a lot musically since his début project.

“I’ve grown a lot; not just in sound, but in honesty. Since Validation I have experienced a lot and that has shaped my approach to this album and the tone of the album. By Fire is focused on being real about where I’ve been and what I’ve learned. I think that allows the music to feel more grounded, more intentional, and people can connect with it better,” he reasoned.

For Wiggan, By Fire represents more than a creative release.

“This is something I’ve carried for a long time,” he shared. “As a student I understood what it meant to need housing and not always have that security. And, over the years, I’ve continued to hear that same struggle from other students. By Fire created an opportunity not just to share music, but to respond to that need in a meaningful way.”

Wiggan shared with the Jamaica Observer the inspiration behind the album’s title.

“By Fire came out of a real season for me. Not just creatively, but personally and spiritually. I realised that a lot of what God was doing in me wasn’t comfortable, but it was necessary. The title reflects that process… the idea that some things in your life are shaped, refined, and strengthened through pressure. Not to break you, but to prepare you,” he said, while highlighting that each song on the album chronicles a different side of his journey.

“Each one represents a different moment in that journey; different conversations I was having with God, and different things I was learning along the way,” he said.

To reinforce the message of the project, Wiggan enlisted the likes of Alicia Taylor, Prince Saj, Rondell Positive, Genesis Praise Squad, Gilead, Go Worship and Audia Spencer-Brown.

“Each performer was selected intentionally because they aren’t just features for the sake of it; they’re voices that help to carry the message of the album in a deeper way,” Wiggan disclosed.

Wiggan along with Dexter Johnson, Chadwick Morgan, Fisherman Project, Da Journey, and Garth Sinette produced the album.

Among the musicians who contributed their talents to the project are Jonathan Foga, Daniel Beverly, Eliezer Supré, Joel Graham, Josiah Rainford, Evan Mason, and Mark-Anthony Reid.

Said Wiggan: “It was important to me that the music felt honest; meaning not just polished, but real, and they helped to bring that to life.”

“At its core, By Fire is about process. It’s about trusting God even when the journey doesn’t feel easy or clear. A lot of times we want the promise… until God starts preparing us for it. This project is a reminder that what God is building in you through the process is just as important as what He’s bringing you into,” Wiggan shared.
