Manor Park bus lay-by and commercial vending zone upgrades underway — Seiveright
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The long-anticipated transformation of the Manor Park bus lay-by and commercial vending zone has officially begun, with phase one now underway to modernise one of the Kingston Metropolitan Area’s busiest transport and commercial hubs.
Member of Parliament for St Andrew North Central, Delano Seiveright, in a media release on Monday, emphasised the importance of the project in uplifting both the physical environment and the livelihoods of those who depend on the space.
“This is about transforming Manor Park into a clean, modern and well-organised commercial and transport hub that reflects the standards we want to see across Jamaica. For years, vendors and commuters have operated in conditions that were far from ideal. That is changing,” said Seiveright.
“We are creating a space that supports small business growth, improves daily commuting and instils a sense of pride in the community. This is what practical, people-focused development looks like,” he added.
The project, being executed through a strong public-private partnership, is led by Seiveright in collaboration with private sector partner Richard Lake, who has taken on a hands-on role, and Pan Jamaica Group, alongside key public agencies and corporate stakeholders. Seiveright further acknowledged Councillor Susan Senior and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) for their continued coordination and partnership.

Initial works started on Sunday and included the removal and proper disposal of outdated, makeshift vending structures, clearing the way for the installation of sleek, modern retail kiosks designed to significantly improve the visual appeal, safety and functionality of the space.
The next phases of the project will include the development of modern, well-maintained restroom facilities, thoughtfully designed landscaping with signage, and covered commuter areas with proper seating. Further critical works are scheduled to commence next month as the full vision for the area continues to take shape.
Seiveright also recognised the contributions of key partners, including the Lisa Hanna Foundation, Burger King, Popeyes, Wisynco, KSAMC, the Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) and the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), whose combined support has made the initiative possible.
The Manor Park upgrade forms part of a wider push to enhance major community and commercial spaces across St Andrew North Central, improving infrastructure, supporting micro-enterprises and strengthening overall urban management.
Work on phase one is expected to progress steadily over the coming days and weeks, with additional phases to follow.
