Reggae Boyz ratings vs New Caledonia: High marks for Webster, Cadamarteri

Reggae Boyz ratings vs New Caledonia: High marks for Webster, Cadamarteri

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz edged Oceania’s New Caledonia in their intercontinental playoff semifinal on Thursday at the Estadio Akron in Guadalajara, Mexico, to set up a clash against DR Congo on Tuesday for a spot at the FIFA World Cup this summer.

Wrexham striker Bailey Cadamarteri scored the winner for the Boyz in the 18th minute to continue their quest to return to the global spectacle for the first time in 28 years.

Observer Online took in the action. See how we rated the Boyz’ individual performances below.

Andre Blake – 7/10
New Caledonia tried to catch him out a few times but he had a comfortable evening. Also pulled out a big save late.

Joel Latibeaudiere – 6.5/10
Had a decent game but fatigue started to show in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Richard King – 6.5/10
Had some nervy moments but fortunately wasn’t punished

Ethan Pinnock – 7 /10
Solid defensively and distributed the ball well

Ronaldo Webster – 8/10
Man of the match. Arguably the best offensive player from left back and tracked well defensively.

Isaac Hayden – 6.5/10
Quiet game but didn’t need to do much

Karoy Anderson – 7/10
Progressed the ball well, made some good runs towards both boxes and led the defensive press

Andre Brooks – 6/10
Not the debut he’d have liked as he didn’t contribute to the attack as much

Ephron Mason-Clark – 6.5/10
Was more involved than Brooks on his debut but struggled in some key moments

Tyreece Campbell – 7/10
Always looked to take on his man and recovered well defensively

Bailey Cadamarteri – 7.5/10
Got the goal, should have done better with some other opportunities, but solid performance

Subs
Bobby Reid – 7/10
Did a lot more than Brooks, looked lively and probably should have scored

Leon Bailey – 6.5/10
Definitely was a threat on the right side but could have converted some of those dribbles into something more

Damion Lowe, Jamal Lowe, Amari’i Bell – 5
