JC student charged after viral assault video
KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Jamaica College student who was caught on a viral video violently assaulting a peer has been formally charged by the police.
The 16-year-old is charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
According to the school, the incident stemed from a dispute over stolen items. In a statement issued Monday, Jamaica College said the student who was assaulted had admitted in writing that, about two weeks earlier, he had taken several items, including a jacket, a pair of glasses and a sum of money, from a group of boys he had been socialising with.
The items were not returned, the school said, which ultimately led to the confrontation.
No court date has yet been set.
